Personally I don't think the poor box-office numbers for Hostel II reflects a decline in the genre. I just think it's bad timing against a gorilla of a movie - Ocean's 13. Typically, horror movies are released in the fall and winter. I think that's when they do best. To that note, I've heard from multiple sources that Eli has been publicly saying that it's the best ending for a movie you’ll see all year, and that everyone will be blown away by it. Of course with a bold claim like that, I made sure to watch the movie opening day. I wrote a "non-spoiler" post about the movie in my blog. Check it out if you get a chance.
