Georg Buchner's unfinished "Woyzeck" has been adapted/finished by almost every single human ever to hold a pen in their hand. Amongst the distinguished luminaries to tackle the play is German mad genius Werner Herzog, whose film adaptation debuted in 1979. Now Herzog finds himself in illustrious company.
Singer/songwriter/professional badass Nick Cave and his sometime fellow Bad Seed Warren Ellis, also of Dirty Three collaborated on the moody and evocative score for a new production of the venerable play. Initially staged by Reykjavik City Theatre and recently shown at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the play apparently benefitted greatly from Cave and Ellis's musical contributions. Hopefully, this will lead to some more music/screenplays from the gravelly Austrailian. And don't get us started on the possibility of a Cave/Herzog project.
