Pulling our best Jeffrey Wells: We haven't seen it and maybe it's decently-made escapist entertainment in the same way that Spielberg's "War Of The Worlds" was, but if you're truly and eagerly anticipating (and paying money on Friday) to see Keanu Reeves in a remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still," well, you're not really a fan of film. You're not a serious film-goer. You're a fan of movies. One is more important than the other and we'll let you make the distinction, but if you even have to ask what the difference is...

"Quality-made escapist entertainment in the same way that Spielberg's "War Of The Worlds"...that right there makes me wonder about you. That movie was pure shit. Much like the new Indiana Jones, and all the recent Star Wars, and the Spider Man movies (not films see)...I could go on and on.
Heh, i'm trying to be nice about it. i didn't love it by any means, but i think it was fun popcorn. Anyone said it was crap though, i'm not to argue with anyone. It was just the first thing that came to mind that i thought was semi-enjoyable in theaters. Nothing more, nothing less.
Also "quality-made escapist entertainment" for me is kinda like saying, "Hmmm, this turd doesn't smell as bad as this other turd."
I could probably demolish 90% of hollywood movies and still be completely content with my film going.
Even the Oscar-bait this year. They're good movies,... for Hollywood.
what's up captain pretentia. If you limit yourself to just being a fan of "film" and not a fan of "movies", then I guess you don't really like "cinema". I love the blog man but jeeeez. Ugggh. Gross dude. Gross.
