'Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen' Soundtrack Keeps Bad Modern Rock In Business, Features No Stan Bush, Hans Zimmer Not Writing Score

The tracklist for Michael Bay's "Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" soundtrack has been released and true to nature it's full of delicate and nuanced moments of musical restraint and poise.

Just kidding. The energy-drink enthusiast/ testosterone-fueled adrenaline junkie has tapped an entire who's who of bad, modern rock including his Linkin Park buddies (who wrote some of the score with Hans Zimmer), Taking Back Sunday,
The Used, plus bad post-grunge, Stain, Nickelback, and toothless radio-ready wimp rock, Hoobastank and The Fray. Somehow psych-rockers Mastodon and Cheap Trick were also convinced to be part of this thing, but then again, these days a paycheck is a paycheck. Note this tracklist does not feature All American Rejects or Avenged Sevenfold but they are listed on the artwork, so it's entirely possible the tracklist floating around is not final* (the artwork jives with the rest of the tracklist).

The disc is due June 23 via Reprise Records and will come out the same day as Steve Jablonsky's score disc (presumably they'll be deluxe version with both CDs available too like there was for the first film). Wait, didn't Linkin' Park say that Zimmer was scoring the film? They were wrong.

"I am [still] the composer on this film. It has all gotten rather complicated," Jablosnky told Sci-Fi scoop at the end of April. "The film is BIG, and now that we’ve got Linkin Park involved, Hans has kind of been helping me keep the production on track, because I’m so focused on writing the score at because I’m so focused on writing the score at the moment.”

Sadly for longtime fans and his non-existent career, it appear that Stan Bush's "The Touch," a classic fromage cock-rock epic from the original animate
d 1986 "Transformers: The Movie" flick won't be in the picture, despite claims from the also-ran musician that his song would be featured in the film (though it's entirely possible it's in the film just not on the soundtrack CD, though this seems unlikely).

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" soundtrack tracklist (*Update: final official tracklist).
1. Linkin Park — “New Divide”
2. Green Day — “21 Guns”
3. Cavo — “Let It Go”
4. Taking Back Sunday — “Capital M-E”
5. The Fray — “Never Say Never”
6. Nickelback — “Burn It To The Ground”
7. The Used — “Burning Down The House”
8. Theory Of A Deadman — “Not Meant To Be”
9. The All-American Rejects — “Real World”
10. Hoobastank — “Don’t Think I Love You”
11. Staind — “This Is It”
12. Avenged Sevenfold — “Almost Easy”
13. Cheap Trick — “Transformers™ The Fallen Remix”

Here's the new Linkin' Park track, the theme of the movie called, "New Divide," and presumably the one the band mentioned Hans Zimmer helped out on, which would make sense since it's so orchestral, bombastic and instrumental (though there's also a vocal version).

Hmmm...if Stan Bush says his song is on the soundtrack, and Cheap Trick is doing something called the "Transformers Theme," I'm gonna bet that may be "The Touch" in disguise. Anyone? Possibly a melding of "The Touch" and their own take maybe, like what CT did with Big Star's "In the Street" for "That 70s Show"? Just speculatin' on a hypothesis here...

not bad a bad hypothesis...

I'd actually like it better if this movie was silent. All I need are flawless looking CGI robots beating the shit out of each other for 2.5 hours.

No Smashing Pumpkins this time?

follow-up: The Cheap Trick is NOT "The Touch," but it is a hilarious, rocking tune about flying robots! That makes it infinitely cooler and more self-aware than anything else on the soundtrack. Here's the mp3.

Am I truly the only one who has noticed that the Cheap Trick song is NOT on that archive? As a matter of fact, it's not on ANY archive posted on Rapidshare, MegaUpload ot Mediafire. Seems that everybody who posted those archives had the same source.

Yes, I can listen to Cheap Trick's track on YouTube, but I want it on my MP3 player and I'm not going to waste time converting audio from a YouTube video (describing the sound quality as "crappy" would be a compliment, cause it's worse than sh*t).

Yup, I pre-ordered the CD from Amazon.

You guys did your job, you made me buy something I had already downloaded for free...

But I'm sure I won't regret it.

I'm listening to the download now while I'm reading the IDW comic movie adaptation. Soundtrack for my reading... Too bad issue #4 of 4 is not out yet...
