Best know for his work with Bjork, composer Valgeir Sigurðsson has put the final touches on the soundtrack for the documentary, "Dreamland." The film traces the country's economic crisis and how it tied in to the selling of their celebrated national resources to Alcoa with promises of prosperity. The meta-project which involved building the largest dam in Europe in order to provide Alcoa with cheap electricity drew outrage from environmental advocates around the world.
The soundtrack for the film includes the entire roster of Sigurðsson's Bedroom Community record label including composers Nico Muhly and Daníel Bjarnason, industrial wizard Ben Frost, and folksinger Sam Amidon. The album will be released on February 22, 2010 but is available right now as a name-your-price download from the label's website.
The film is currently making the festival rounds, playing DocPoint Helsinki, Gothenburg International Film Festival and Montreal's Cinema Politica in the coming weeks. The film seems to be non-existent on IMDB, but you can read more details about it at the their website.
