What is the deal with Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood"? We weren't too thrilled by the taste we got by the first trailer, but the international version has us scratching our heads.
Remember the tale of Robin Hood and his merry men, in Sherwood Forest, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor? It seems Scott's version is such a complete reimagining of the folk tale that we're beginning to wonder why it's being called "Robin Hood" at all. Judging from all the swords, horses and hordes of men running at each other it looks more like "Gladiator" meets "Lord Of The Rings" than anything else. Russell Crowe's Robin Hood hardly seems like a man of the people, while Matthew Macfadyen seems ill-suited to be playing the evil Sheriff Of Nottingham (perhaps why he's gotten so little trailer exposure and where's Alan Rickman when you need him?). Loud, forgettable, and worst of all, boring, we hope this isn't indicative of what's in store when the film opens on May 14th.

You know, despite all the action that filled thw trailer, I was bored too. Not a good sign.
Scott's stuff has been pretty generic of late. I'm not holding out a lot of hope for this. It's also being released in May. His films used to always hit in the fall - Oscar-bait.
Though Star Trek may change that line of thinking.
My point is, this is looking like Kingdom of Heaven (boring action film) more than say Gladiator (action drama with some weight to it -- even if i feel that movies is way overrated).
Thanks for the Moviepost.
