Yes, we know, 2009 is so last year but when Quentin Tarantino lists of his favorite of the year, you have to pay attention.
Speaking to the only Brit tabloid writer we trust, Baz Bamigboye, the director rattled off his fave his films noting that its not definitive and subject to change. It's certainly slightly different than the Top 8 he listed for The Hollywood Reporter last month (and it's actually 11 in total).
They're apparently in no particular order, but Tarantino says, "My movie aside, I cannot NOT list Avatar at the top."
"Avatar,"
"Star Trek"
"Drag Me To Hell"
"Funny People"
"Zombieland"
"Chocolate" (Thai martial arts movie)
"Observe & Report"
"The Hurt Locker"
"Julie And Julia"
"Up In The Air"
"District 9."
We find the idea of fanboys suddenly championing "Julie And Julia" because QT loves it kind of amusing. Sadly, no love for "Bright Star," a film he championed earlier this year at Cannes. In characteristic modesty, Tarantino recently spoke to the LA Times about his "Inglourious Basterds" Oscar chances and said its inclusion in this year's award season is validation. "So, it actually means a lot to be in contention at the end of my second decade in business," he said in a voice barely below a shout. "My wine is aging well!"
Here's a recent video clip from 24 Frames' "The moment I became a director" with the DGA nominated filmmakers this year.

julie and julia was good, a solid 7/10. but that is a very funny observation you guys have made. people are so stupid.
Well, we can tell he has zero taste, that´s for sure.
I guess i´m all alone, but i still cannot get the Avatar phenomenon...
tarantino's picks are always goofy. remember his best of decade list? it was unbelievably off the wall and in my opinion, horrible.
yea surprised by j&j mention. it was kind of meh.
The funniest was when he said something at one of the award's shows thanking his cast for delivering his "poetry" so well...ha ha...Sure he has delivered some cool movie moments, but it's hard for me to take QT seriously—this list is further proof—especially after learning how he screwed Roger Avary out of his "written by" credit for PULP FICTION, even though Avary wrote half the movie and a lot of the quirky turns of phrase throughout...
Anyone who lists Avaturd as their #1 movie of the year needs a lobotomy.
That video was awesome.
