Teetering on what seemed like financial ruin for most of last year, things seem to be looking up for The Weinstein Company in 2010. They walked away from last month's Sundance Film Festival with two films under their arms: the war doc "The Tillman Story" and the highly anticipated romantic drama "Blue Valentine" with Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams.
Now, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the The Weinstein Company has closed a deal with Sony who will handle the marketing and distribution of their titles to DVD. This wouldn't be the first time the Weinsteins have outsourced that side of the business as Universal made a one off deal to handle the DVD and BluRay for "Inglorious Basterds," while Genius Entertainment was for a long time the team that got their titles into stores.
The first batch of confirmed titles include "A Single Man," "The Road," "Youth In Revolt," "Halloween," "Piranha 3D," "Nowhere Boy," "Hoodwinked Too!" and "Blue Valentine." No street dates for those titles have been set yet, with the latter three titles still awaiting theatrical releases. Also still sitting on The Weinstein Company's shelf is their Oscar-baiting WWII drama "Shanghai" and Andrew Jarecki's "All Good Things" which doesn't even appear on their website.
The Weinstein Company will be laying low for the next little while, as their next scheduled theatrical release until August 27th when"Piranha 3D" will hit screens.

They also have a ton of Kung fu movies that their Dragon Dynasty line never released.
Wow lots going on love to hear news. Artsy films are great and are giving way to lots of overproduction of cable and mass marketing keep up the good work!!!
