First Trailer For Stuart Beattie's 'Tomorrow, When The War Began'

The first trailer has been unveiled for Stuart Beattie's upcoming adaptation of John Marsden's "Tomorrow, When The War Began."

Marsden's novel —
the first of a whole series is an Australian cult classic and follows the story of a band of teenagers who must defend themselves and their small town against a foreign invasion. So, pretty much "Red Dawn" set in Australia.

Beattie will be making his directorial debut on the project after making a name for himself scribing the likes of the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' trilogy, Baz Luhrmann's "Australia," and "G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra." Surely, he's learned a thing or two about making blockbusters from that bunch? The film's cast, meanwhile, is filled out by relatively unknown Australians including Caitlin Stasey, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Lincoln Lewis, Andy Ryan, Lee Pang and Deniz Akdeniz.

"Tomorrow, When The War Began" doesn't have a U.S. release as of yet but will hit Australian theaters this September.

I think a lot of Australian twenty-somethings are about to figure out that they had bad taste in books when they were teenagers.

Yup I read the first of those books once and "Red Dawn in Oz" is about right, except you have no idea who it is who is actually invading Australia, or why... Seemed a bit pointless to me.

This looks terrible.

I dont know what you are all talking about. while there were some bad bits in the books, there were some really good bits too. i think the movie looks good. you guys are too hard to please. you should spend more time supporting australia and its films and less time on the internet.

actually... the books were amazing. they revolutionized the face of curriculum reading for high schools. they made it interesting and fresh.... it's not just a book about guerrilla warfare, it's a story about the loss of innocence, and who you become once you've lost it. it's about having freedom thrust upon you, and how fiercely you're willing to fight for it. until you've read it, shut up.

I agree that some of you people are too hard to please. Support Australian films. John Marsden did a great job on the books and many people loved them. And try being a bit supportive of the movie. Don't judge something you have not seen.

I agree the books were amazing i have read them too many times to count. they are very creative and sometimes you dont need everything drawn out in crayon to understand. thats what your imagination is for.
havent read the Ellie Chronicals yet but i have heard they follow on after the tomorrow series
