"Modern Family" creator and writer Jason Winer will helm the upcoming remake of 1981 comedy "Arthur" for Warner Bros.
The film will see Russell Brand take up the role made famous by Dudley Moore in the story of a boozy playboy who is set to inherit a fortune if he marries an heiress only for things to complicate when he falls in love with a working-class woman. Meryl Streep has also been rumored for the role of Brand's butler which is reportedly changing gender in the Peter Baynham screenplay.
Brand will next be seen in this summer's "Get Him To The Greek," a quasi-sequel to "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" that will find Brand reprising his role of British rocker Aldous Snow. Jonah Hill, P. Diddy, Rose Byrne and Elisabeth Moss co-star. -Simon Dang
