'Kick-Ass' Soundtrack Features Ennio Morricone, The Prodigy, New York Dolls, Elvis Presley & More

With "Kick-Ass" not only leading the buzz out of SXSW, but seemingly drowning everyone else out, the people behind the film are wasting no time in getting word about the film out there. With the release date five weeks away, reviews are already clogging most film sites.

Unfortunately for the people over at Polydor Records, they can't seem to get their act together. While we previously reported that Mika would be singing the film's title track, little did we know the label had tweeted the full tracklisting the same day. You wouldn't be able to tell by looking at their website, which still has no details, or most online retailers, who have incomplete or missing tracklistings.

Anyway, we've tracked it all down and have the complete listing below. As we noted in our review of the film yesterday, director Matthew Vaughn makes "great use of source music," though Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'N Roll" which accompanied one of our favorite moments of the film, seems to be missing here. That said, the soundtrack seems both cheeky and high energy which is no surprise. Classic composer Ennio Morricone stands alongside acts such as The Prodigy, Primal Scream, The Dickies and New York Dolls. There appears to be dialogue snippets from the film included as well.

The soundtrack seems to be a UK only release, hitting stores on March 29th. There is no word yet if it will be released domestically as well.

"Kick-Ass" Soundtrack Tracklisting

1. "I'm Kick-Ass"
2. Stand Up - The Prodigy
3. Kick Ass - Mika Vs Redone
4. "I Never Said Batman"
5. Can't Go Back - Primal Scream
6. There's A Pot Brewin' - The Little Ones
7. "Bring It On!"
8. Omen - The Prodigy
9. "Butterfly Knife"
10. Make Me Wanna Die - The Pretty Reckless
11. "Mayor's Office"
12. Banana Splits - The Dickies
13. Starry Eyed - Ellie Goulding
14. This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us - Sparks
15. "Who Would Win In A Fight...?"
16. We're All In Love - New York Dolls
17. Bongo Song - Zongamin

19. Per Qualche Dollaro In Piu (For A Few Dollars More) - Ennio Morricone

Seems like the ones that aren't music tracks (such as the Big Daddy warehouse sequence) from the film aren't on the listing from Amazon unfortunately. :/

Hi, Anyone know what the song is as the cast starts to come up? it sounds like pink but im not sure

hey guys,
for those who want to know what song is playing during Big Daddy's fight in the lumber warehouse it is the theme song from 28 Days Later.
The score is done by John Murphy. Hope this helps.

hey guys, the song at the big daddy fight scene was called "don Abandons Alice" from 28 weeks later, by John Murphy, i recognised it instantly, i know, im awesome, praise me now :)

There's another piece of music I can't find in the film, it's when hit girl comes out of the lift and has killed the first few bad guys and is waiting to do her run up the corridor. Again it starts slow and builds up with heavy drums. Does anyone what this is? It may be a score piece, not sure though...

Anonymous said...

When hit girl comes out of the lift (the slow bit)
When i first watched the film i thought it was "kryptonite" by 3 doors down
But.. i'm not sure hence why i looked on here :P

Anonymous said...

anyone now the little song bit where kick ass is trying to run across the rooftops and stops goes slow motion?

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice that the 'In the house in a heartbeat' bit is actually different from the original? The four-note sequence is played in a different order, making me think the composer might just have copied it and be passing it off as his own? Oooh, naughty.

hey does anyone know the song that played at the end when the credits were coming up it was sooooo lush and i cant find it :( x x

hi, anyone know the piece of music when big daddy's putting on his makeup and facial hair in front of the mirror?
it's slow and rather sad... i think piano based.

is that john murphy's? house in a heartbeat or sunshine?

Anonymous said...

I was wondering if anyone knew the piece of music where Kick Ass was training on the rooftops and chickened out jumping.

It sounded similar to parts of 'coronation' in Stardust...but I really want to know the exact piece

Where is this version of the soundtrack? I've only seen the smaller soundtrack with 14 tracks, all of the songs by artists, with none of the 9 score pieces from the film. Really want the score and would love to know if anyone finds somewhere with this listed version of the soundtrack with all 23 tracks

Anonymous said...

I saw the film last week and there were a couple of tracks from the 28 DAYS LATER soundtrack being used, that is probably the slow track a couple of you are mentioning.

Anonymous said...

On the subject of tracking down music, does anybody know the name of the track used at the end of the film as they fly over New York on the jetpack?

Anonymous said...

The warehouse shootout scene is called 'Leaving England' and is composed by John Murphy.

what is the song called in the trailer it goes like what you gona do when they come for you but when i looked it up it was only rap but in the trailer it was rock

I would also love to know the song playing when hitgirl comes out of the elevator!

Guys, everything you like in this movie is the John Murphy score to 28 Days later and Sunshine, trust me.

Take a look at this link for Big Daddy's music http://wikibin.org/articles/in-the-house-in-a-heartbeat.html

Not sure which of the three variants is used. All cool though!

The song that EVERYONE is looking for during that seen is a very little known song called "The Forest" by a composer Jamin Winans. It originally was in a movie called INK which is one of my favorites.

I need the name of the song that is on when she gets out of the elevator after killing those three guys, please help!

"The Forest" by a composer Jamin Winans is not even close to it.

Dumb question- what song is playing in the mist mobile on the way to the warehouse, as Red Mist is smoking?

Anonymous said...

whats the song playing when they are flying over new york on jet packs? and the one everyone wants to know, when hit girl comes out of the elevator?

Anonymous said...

what is the name of the song with the woman singing, no words but the singing is so beautiful. i have heard it before, but it the name is eluding me. they play it when red mist is driving kickass to the lumber warehouse.

Anonymous said...

When Hit Girl comes out of the elevator it is actually two songs. It starts out with a twist of Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down, and also Bad Reputation, by Joan Jett.

Anonymous said...

In the Mist Mobile - Crazy, by Gnarls Barkley. :)

Stefen said...

The song where Hit Girl comes out of the elevator into the corridor is actually a score from Gun's and Roses's "November Rain." At about 6:47, is when it starts.

Does anyone know the song when they are walking out of the movie theatre and the redmist and his dad are just pulling up to the theatre? I would love to know this song please

"Does anyone know the song when they are walking out of the movie theatre and the redmist and his dad are just pulling up to the theatre? I would love to know this song please"

I think that's Can't Go Back by Primal Scream

dawg said...

Pretty sure the slow and sad piano music playing when Big Daddy's putting on his makeup and facial hair in front of the mirror is called 'Who Are You' from the motion picture 'Miami Vice'. Another John Murphy piece.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else catch 'Requiem' from Requiem for a Dream?

That was fantastic.

Anonymous said...

Hi, i'd like to know the song when they are flying away on a jet pack aswell. its upbeat with violins playing i think.

Anonymous said...

EVERYONE WANTING THE HIT-GIRL/ELEVATOR SONG (BEFORE "BAD REPUTATION"):

It is an original piece that the composers talk about at around 19:30 in this interview.
http://www.filmmusicmag.com/?p=5253

"November Rain" and "Kryptonite" were close, "THE FOREST" was not. Unfortunately, it's not downloadable, but hopefully I helped my fellow searchers. On a side-note, it sounds almost like a slower/quieter/picked version of the intro chords to The New York Dolls' "We're All in Love," which is also on the soundtrack. Just a thought...

Anonymous said...

Ok for the song with Kick Ass on the Jet Pack:

'An American Trilogy' - Elvis Presley

For The Big Daddy Death Scene. This one is tough. It is indeed a John Murphy Song. However, Its like a combo of sounds if that makes sence. You have themes from:

'Who Are you' - Miami Vice Soundtrack

'Surface of the Sun' - Sunshine Soundtrack

'Adaigo in D Minor' - Sunshine Soundtrack (and used in like 4 other songs from this sountrack)

The Kick Ass score is supposed to be released on April 26th on iTunes, so hopefully the elevator track everyone is looking for will be on it.

The track a lot of people seem to be after, the one where hit-girl is in the hallway after getting out of the elevator, according to the John Murphy Facebook page, this song is simply called "Corridor," and it will be release with the score soundtrack.

Murphy also said he thought this is the worst score he did in the movie, I tend to disagree, I think it's the best.

Anonymous said...

what's that song that plays when it tells everyone in this thread to STFU already, who cares.

The song that's playing when Kick-ass and hit girl fly off on the jet pack is a score called "Flying,"(Obvious, I know.) It is a score and therefore will release with the score soundtrack.

That is a score piece "inspired by" November Rain.

Anonymous said...

most of these songs sound familiar cos the film was obviously temp tracked with music from other songs (and the instrumental finale of november rain)

These songs have been modified though to fit the beats of the scene and be different enough to be classed as "original" score

None of this score is available yet, someone said it will be on itunes soon, so just wait.

People that don't have spotify can search on youtube or what ever:

Sunshine - Adagio in D Minor by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

Just a heads-up to all those who like the slow, sad piece playing when MistMobile is heading to Safehouse B/Big Daddy is in the mirror - if you like that piece, I would imagine you'd like to check out 'Host of Seraphim' by Dead Can Dance. From 'The Mist' soundtrack, awesome piece. I see a lot of similarity between the two.

For those low on cash or those who are unashamed of downloading music for free, enjoy the Original Score! :3 (Not the first, puny OST that came out, but rather the larger soundtrack with many of the background songs, like the Big Daddy in the Warehouse scene and the guitar riffs that play when Hitgirl is in the elevator)
