Oliver Stone's 'South Of The Border' Will Open North Of The Border On June 25th

Tiny independent distributor Cinema Libre Studio have acquired the North American rights to Oliver Stone's documentary "South Of The Border" and will release the film in ten cities on June 25th.

The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year,
originally started as a documentary on Venezualan president Hugo Chavez, became a bigger look at South American politics as a whole, and the American media and economic influence on the continent. In addition to Chavez, the film features interviews with Evo Morales (Bolivia), Lula da Silva (Brazil), Cristina Kirchner (Argentina), as well as her husband and ex-President Néstor Kirchner, Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), and Raúl Castro (Cuba).

The film will certainly be interesting, and as with anything Stone and politics related, will be sure spur discussion. This isn't the only documentary up the director's busy sleeve; he's also working on "The Secret History Of America," a ten part television series that promises, among other things, to humanize Hitler.

Stone's next feature film, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" hits theaters on September 24th.
