First Look: Anthony Hopkins As Odin In 'Thor'

Usually Entertainment Tonight set visits are nothing more than a lot of really bad "So what is it like..." questions and jaunty, empty banter, and for the show's latest visit to the set of "Thor," that hasn't changed. However, they did manage to get some brief interesting footage of a 7-Eleven exploding and more importantly, a first look at Anthony Hopkins in costume as Odin (pictured above) and a brief look at Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Oh yeah, they also dig up that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) was a contestant on the Australian version of "Dancing With The Stars." Amazing.

Frankly, Hopkins looks appropriately awesome as the father who sends his son down to live on Earth. The film is an origin story of sorts with Thor meeting scientist Jane Foster, falling in love and then reckoning with the forces of Asgard when they invade Earth. The cast for Kenneth Branagh's film is pretty great with Tom Hiddleston (his evil brother Loki), Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Adriana Barraza joining Hemsworth, Portman and Hopkins. And yeah, Samuel L. Jackson will probably show up as Nick Fury somewhere in there.

The film should be central fixture at next month's Comic-Con and is slated to hit theaters on May 6, 2011.
