David Lynch Wants Your $50 To Help Fund His Next Film, Will Give You A Self-Portrait And/Or T-Shirt In Exchange

In a move similar to Kevin Smith's appeal to fans to give him the dough for "Red State" (which he later took back), David Lynch apparently needs help funding a new documentary project. Which should be no surprise, seeing as the camera used for Lynch's latest film, "INLAND EMPIRE" seemed like it was borrowed from a freshman undergraduate student.

Unfortunately, for those (including this writer) who were looking for another mind-fuck experimental fiction film, the planned film will be a documentary. Entitled "Lynch Three," this final installment will chronicle the career of Lynch up to and including "INLAND EMPIRE." A small donation of 50 American Dollars will get you an "abstract self-portrait" or a t-Shirt featuring the print of said "abstract self-portrait." Whether this insane choice is worth 50 dollars to you or not is dependent on how badly you want people to know you love his crazy man, but an added bonus to the donation is that you will actually be able to submit questions to Lynch, and they may be featured in the doc. Nice deal, we just hope there will be questions a bit more worthwhile than "Why do you do weather reports on your website?" Because we need him to, that's why.

All right, it's no "Mulholland Drive 2," but a documentary not only about the man but by the man will probably be rather fascinating given his odd sense of humor and unique mind. It's also thankfully not a documentary about "transcendental meditation," which seems to be occupying much of Lynch's time of late. Say what you will about his films, at least he's always attempted to attack narratives in interesting ways. For those who find his films hard to stomach, at least try "The Straight Story," which nvolves a WW2 veteran who drives cross-country on his tractor to see his dying brother, and a mentally-disabled Sissy Spacek building bird houses and watching sprinklers. Really, it's not that weird.
