Last week, the trailer dropped for David O. Russell's forthcoming "The Fighter" and while it seems decent enough, it also looks like an uncharacteristically pedestrian effort from the director, which may explain why it's skipping the festival route on its way to the theaters in December.
We now have a new look at the film with Mark Wahlberg and a particularly emaciated Christian Bale. It looks like the actor has gone back to the diet he had circa 2004's "The Machinist." We certainly hope he's had a Big Mac since filming ended.
The film centers on boxer "Irish" Micky Ward (Wahlberg) and his recovering drug-addict/former boxing brother (Bale) who helped train him before going pro in the mid 1980s. Amy Adams and Melissa Leo co-star.
"The Fighter" will begin in a limited roll out on December 10th before going wide on December 17th. [RopeOfSilicon]

remember Paramount's "up in the air":it was the favorite in every festival, some nods ,huge campaign for awards and what happened? no win
a friend saw "the fighter" in screen test and said the trailer is generic contrary to the entertraining R rated dramedy of the screen test
For God sake! Someone give a sandwich to this man!
Bale looks alike an alcoholic hobo here (and i'm nice today)
Is it just me that thinks he didn't really "need" that weight loss for The Machinist, and probably won't here either.
Just a few pounds would've been fine, Christian!
Well, you can always be thinner.
^^^ American Psycho...good quote.
