Luke Wilson Politely Says 'Royal Tenebaums II' Is A Terrible Idea

Tennis Announcer 1: That's 72 unforced errors for Richie Tenebaum. He's playing the worst tennis of his life. What's he feeling right now Tex Haywood??
Tennis Announcer 2: I don't know, Jim. There's obviously something wrong with him. He's taken off his shoes and one of his socks and... actually, I think he's crying.

The incredibly rapid way blogs work these days is obvious content overload. Tons of updates, updates, reports, rumors etc. Inevitably what happens is new outlets essentially making news: asking actors random questions and making headlines out of not much.

This fine, we know the drill, but the danger is something out of nothing being erroneously reported as news. Case in point, our pals at MTV asking Luke Wilson, rather silly-y, whether he would consider reprising his role as former tennis pro, Richie "The Baumer" Tenenbaum in a sequel to "The Royal Tenenbaums" Of course there are no plans to do this nor is their any sequel on the table, but dare to dream (Wes Anderson fortunately seems like the type who would never venture the thought).

Wilson thankfully shot down the question rather quickly and rather politely, but you can read between the lines.

“I don’t know if you can revisit any of those [characters],”Wilson said skeptically. “I would have no problem playing another [Wes Anderson] character again, [but] you wouldn’t want to ruin the goodwill you’ve created with another movie.”

But it doesn't always work this way. Asked by MTV if he'd be game for an "Anchorman 2" sequel, Paul Rudd said he definitley would, but suggested if they were to do this, the filmmaker should up the ante and do something absurd like set the film "in space."

This amusing and all, but rooted in no reality whatsoever, Rudd would likely have no say and wouldn't write, but this doesn't stop bloggers from re-reporting the story and asking "Will 'Anchorman 2' Be Set In Space???"

Yes, we should get a sense of humor and not take it all so seriously, it's a light, fun story with no real merit, but this potential kind of misreporting can spin wildly out of control if the blogosphere catches on. What we're appealing for is a small sense of proceed with caution: those that report and those that re-report. If you take the world at face value and simply regurge what anyone is saying, we're all going to end up like hacks or the British Press and lord knows, that ain't a good look.

Will Ferrell And Adam McKay Continue Talking 'Anchorman 2'... Cause They Can

Will Ferrell and his producing/directed partner Adam McKay are currently doing the press rounds promoting "Step Brothers" (co-starring John C. Reilly), so naturally, talk is deviating to the much-discussed, but gone-nowhere so-far idea of an "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" sequel (face it, you can talk about "Step Brothers" for about three minutes or so and then you're bored).

Much like 'Anchorman' producer Judd Apatow has already said
, the comedy duo told have been kicking an idea around in their head over beers, which Entertainment Weekly amusingly translates into: " 'Anchorman 2' being developed," because hell, it's a slow week. McKay told EW the story "could" jump ahead a decade to the '80s, and by "could," he means they've been tossing ideas around back and forth and it could go that way. (but call the project "in development" if you wish, but pass a brewski and I raise you $10 bucks on this hand). Apparently now that they're popular they can do whatever they want storywise. "The audience will now allow us to do even crazier stuff," McKay said "and that's really all we're looking for in our careers" (considering how demented "Step Brothers" was, at least he's being sincere).

In May, McKay told Collider that they'd love to do 'Anchorman 2,' but it's probably two years off and they'd have to get the cast back together (not to mention decide on an actual idea and then write the screenplay). In March, Judd Apatow told MTV, “The movie that probably has a best shot at a sequel is ‘Anchorman.’ Ron Burgundy would be hilarious at 70-years-old, being the anchor” (clearly no idea is set in stone).

Wait about five minutes and you'll hear about four-five more version of the same story.

We just had so much fun making that movie, and it was hard to get made, but what's been great is that it's taken on such a life of its own," Ferrell admitted. "At least the feedback we get is it's beloved, so yeah, it's just one of those that feels like an evergreen thing that we can go back and do it again."

"We had a lot of ideas. The opportunity to be that free and loose. The audience would give us a lot of rope with that character at this point, a lot of free rein. They all know it, and they all know it's going to get crazy, and that's just too tempting. It's like oh my God, where can we go? What's the next level of this idea we can push to?," McKay similarly said to ComingSoon.

The '80s again has been discussed. "We got about seven ideas we're kicking around right now, so somewhere out of all of them, it will somehow fit together."

Ferrell told ComingSoon the reason behind doing the project is that it would simply be fun. "We just had so much fun making that movie, and it was hard to get made, but what's been great is that it's taken on such a life of its own. At least the feedback we get is it's beloved, so yeah, it's just one of those that feels like an evergreen thing that we can go back and do it again."

Developing indeed... If you're camping out for this one, you better stock lots of blankets, water and food.

PS. It appears that Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly improvised their way through most of "Step Brothers" which make perfect fucking sense if you've seen the loose and scattershot film (that's not to say it wasn't funny).

Steve Carrell Would Love To Love Lamp Again

There's been a lot of talk about a sequel to the geniusly sweet comedy, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," in the last few months, it's a movie many of the principal cast and filmmakers would love to revisit including director Adam McKay, star Will Ferrell and producer Judd Apatow.

Will it ever happen though? Who knows, but Steve Carrell said he would love to play Brick Tamland the lamp loving idiot weather man of San Diego's beloved Channel 4 News.

If it happens what will it be about? No one's saying. “I’ve heard some inklings as to what Adam McKay has in mind for a sequel, and it’s really funny,” Carell told MTV. “But I couldn’t say anything more than that.”

Either way, Carrell loved not only carpet and random furniture, he loved every second of playing the polite, punctual, what some might call, "mentally retarded" weatherman.

“That is one of the most fun things I ever did. I laughed until I cried, every day on that movie.”
But wait, in the sequel, wouldn't Tamland be married with eleven children and be one of the top advisors to the Bush administration? Whatever, this post is almost certainly just an excuse to write, "I love lamp," and post Tamland's greatest hits below

I'm In A Glass Cage Of Emotion!: Anchorman 2 On The Way?

You love lamp, right? Would you like to hear more yazz flute? Or perhaps hear more tales about the mythos of San Diego (milk is never a bad choice actually) or smell the pungent verile wafts of Sex Panther again? Producer/director Adam McKay told Collider just yesterday that he and pal Will Ferrell would like to reprise the Ron Burgundy movie with a sequel to "Anchorman," which they hope to do in about two years.
Adam McKay:I'm looking to do another movie, I might do this other movie called Channel 3 Billion which is kind of this science fiction/Brazil type comedy. Then after that, Will and I are like let's do "Anchorman 2" so you're talking like 2 years maybe we'll do it. But we're going to do it, for sure.
Collider: That's like 100%?
McKay: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're dying to do it. Unless we can't get the cast together, which is always kind of a tricky thing. But, I think, with that cast we're all friends, so yeah, we want to do it.
As long as it stays classy, we have no problem with that.
